Caleb is Home!!!

Our sweet boy is finally home after 4 long weeks!!! We are so happy. This will be the first night that our whole family will sleep under the same roof in a month. The younger boys were so happy to see Caleb today. They came running out of the house to give him hugs. We had a couple friends over today to celebrate him being home. Then Kurt took him to his hockey practice tonight. Yes, I know, CRAZY!! But Caleb did awesome, he looked really good. He is still not up to speed of what he was, but he could still skate. I was very impressed. A little nervous at times, though. I think this was great mental therapy for Caleb. He had a smile almost the whole time he was out there. He knows that he has to be very careful and not bang his head. If you were to see Caleb walking down the street, you would have no idea what he has just gone through. He is an amazing kid. It truly is a miracle. If you think about it, he was in a coma 2 1\2 weeks ago and only 2 weeks since he was taken off the heavy sedations, and now he is up and running.
All the therapist at Crotched Mountain were amazed by Caleb and how fast he was impoving. We were only there a week, and he made huge progress. We as parents could see it daily. All the doctors thought it would take months of intensive rehab til he would be able to walk and come home. No one thought he would be home and doing this well.
Caleb was happy to come home, but I think that he is going to miss his therapist. They were so good to him, he had fun at all his sessions. (I also think that Caleb will be missed up there also, they seemed to have a lot of fun with Caleb. I don't think that they get a lot of patients who giggle during there therapy sessions!) Now he will just be stuck at home with boring mom. Being up at Crotched Mountain really was a great experience for our family. I highly recommend it for anyone who needs inpatient rehab (hopefully you don't though).
Caleb will start to go back to school next week. Not full time though. He will just be going for a couple of hours for the first while. We don't think that he will go back full time til after Thanksgiving. He will still have Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies for a while. Even though he is going great, he still has his work cut out for him. It is going to still take a lot of time and work to get him to 100%, but he can do it. Caleb is a very determined little guy.
I just want to say Thank You again to everyone for everything. I can't even begin to tell you how much we appreciate what everyone has done for us. If I sit and think about it, it becomes very overwhelming. I can't believe how generous everyone has been. So, THANK YOU!!!!!!
